“In the Heart of Nowhere" lies a tropical garden cafe and art gallery.
Travellers can relax and browse through the art gallery showing the talents, of local artists from the surrounding Mataranka and Roper River district.
The gallery also offers a range of territory books, postcards, magnets, whips, didgeridoos, information booklets and souvenirs.
Situated on, the Stuart Highway between the Mataranka Hotel and the Mataranka Roadhouse. Approx 400kms south of Darwin Northern Territory Australia
The Stockyard Gallery and Café was established in 1986.
The Mataranka area was home to Aeneas and Jeannie Gunn. Jeannie wrote the famous book about Elsey Station in the early 1900’s titled ‘We of the Never Never’ The book and movie are now part of Australian folklore.
